Bloggers A Threat to the Fashion World?
You may or may not remember hearing about 13-year-old blogger, Tavi Gevinson, attending New York Fashion Week back in September. Yes it's true. This young blogger was lucky enough to not only attend fashion week but also sit front row with some of the most fashionable/stylish individuals of the industry! Now, come today, she is a muse for Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the sisters behind Rodarte and even wrote a few articles for POP magazine and Haper's Bazaar!
Unfortunately, not everyone became of fan of this little blogger. In fact, some fashion editors are upset that bloggers are becoming so popular among runway shows. But why must there be drama between the new and old media? Bloggers are just as important and influential to fashion-- just as much as an overpaid editor or journalist. Fashion is for everyone and therefore everyone should be aloud to have their input, especially if we are the ones buying it! Designers seem to agree however. They know that bloggers have the advantage of direct and immediate reporting, unlike magazines who don't always have the opportunity to go into print right after a show. So really, are bloggers considered a threat or neccesity for the fashion world?
On the New York Times website they address a similar question, you can read more on it in their article: Bloggers Crash Fashion's Front Row
(Can you spot the 2 bloggers?)
